Welcome!

Registration Closed
Welcome back!  We are so pleased to be hosted by Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish for
Called to Serve Family Sunday this November 3rd.  We are excited to be able to gather together once again this year.

Pope Francis once said, "the light of faith allows us to recognize how infinite God's mercy is, but at the same time, makes us see the responsibility that has been entrusted to us to collaborate with God in His works of mercy...the power of grace needs to be coupled with our works of mercy which we are called to live to bear witness to how tremendous is God's love"  (Vatican News, September 2021)

As we gather on November 3rd, we will, together, live God's love through our commitment to living the works of mercy!  We are excited to have you join us.  Please review the below information and make sure to complete your registration form to secure your spot.  New this year, you will not have to choose a specific workshop ahead of time and will be able to enjoy participating in multiple workshops of your choosing the afternoon of the event.  You do still need to complete the registration form so that we know you will be coming.

Please reach out with any questions to [email protected]

Opening Prayer Service and Reflection

#RCDAkind
In preparation for our opening prayer service, and afternoon together this November, we encourage you to take some time to reflect on:  Why Kindness Matters? "As Christians, we are told to love the Lord our God and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Jesus clearly summarizes and affirms this declaration by stating, “There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12:29-31). Acts of kindness can be natural building blocks to being less selfish and increasing our awareness of the needs of others." (RCDA/kind)

Questions to Reflect on Kindness
  • When you think of what kindness means to you, what words or actions come to mind?
  • What was the last act of kindness that you saw? How did it make you feel?
  • What was the last act of kindness that you received? How did it make you feel?
  • Now, can you think of the last act of kindness you completed? How were you kind to someone else? How did it make you feel?
  • What would happen if you committed to performing at least one act of kindness every day?

Workshops

Learn about how you can live the works of mercy by showing compassion to others, one small act of kindness at a time.  We have put together a variety of options in the hopes of offering something that will work for everyone.  New this year, you do not have to choose a specific workshop ahead of time.  On the afternoon of the event, you will be able to participate in one or more workshops of your choosing.  We have listed the workshops that we plan to have available below for you to explore.  Please remember, you do need to register for the day even though you do not need to select a special workshop at this time.  The registration link is below.

Card Making
An important ministry of the church is Pastoral Care Ministry to Sick, Elderly, and Homebound.  It means a lot to those visited through this ministry to know that they  are thought of and valued.  Share your love and prayers with seniors who are homebound, or living in nursing homes or senior living communities.  We will make cards and seasonal crafts to bring a smile to the faces of local residents.  A variety of options will be available to make for all skill levels and ages.

Canvas Bag Decorating
Use your craftiness to help decorate reusable canvas bags. Completed bags will be used to distribute personal care products to those in need from our own Personal Care Closet.  Adding a personal touch and special message of love and hope can brighten someone's day.

Cat Mats
"The Animal Protective Foundation promotes and protects the human-animal bond by providing resources to our community and humane care to companion animals."   Learn about how you can help support this mission, and help make fleece cat mats for the cats and kittens to enjoy!

Prayer Blankets

Help craft cozy fleece blankets, made in prayer, to be given to youth dealing with life struggles such as illness, grief, homelessness, abuse or poverty.

Blessing Bags
Help package reusable tote bags with pre-packaged snacks and other basic items.  We will create and include kind/inspirational messages to show the recipient that they are valued and cared about.  Bags will be distributed through organizations in our community who assist those who are experiencing hunger or homelessness.

Stars for Our Troops
