Opening Prayer Service and Reflection |

In preparation for our opening prayer service, and afternoon together this November, we encourage you to take some time to reflect on what it means to be a Good Samaritan. Begin with reading the prayer, "Help Us to Love Like the Good Samaritan".
During the prayer service we will have a collection of new underwear and socks for boys and girls. Donations will be distributed to children in need in our local community through our Good Neighbor Program. To learn more about the Good Neighbor Program, and how you can help, visit us at: Good Neighbor Program. Please consider bringing one or more of the following with you to Called to Serve Family Sunday:
* New underwear for girls, size 5-6, and ladies' sizes for older youth. * New underwear for boys, all sizes, including men's sizes for older youth. * New socks for girls, all sizes, including ladies' sizes for older youth. * New socks for boys, all sizes, including men's sizes for older youth. Note: We currently have a good supply of new underwear in girl's sizes. The other items listed are in greater need at this time. |

Go Bags for At Risk Youth

At Safe Inc., "Our vision is to end youth homelessness, exploitation, and provide a safe environment within our community where youth can grow into healthy self-sufficient adults." Go Bags will be assembled that include basic essentials to be distributed to youth served by Safe Inc. Use your craftiness to help make t-shirt bags and decorate reusable bags. Completed bags will be given to local food pantries, and our own Personal Care Closet. Adding a personal touch and special message of love and hope can brighten someone's day. Learn about how individuals and families benefit from the services offered through food pantries. **Please bring a new or freshly laundered plain color t-shirt or t-shirts with you if you can. Larger sizes are preferable. These will be used as part of the crafts for this workshop. Registration is now closed

Kitten Angels

A non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing abandoned and orphaned kittens, pregnant cats, and mama cats in the New York Capital Region and surrounding areas." An important ministry of the Church is Pastoral Care Ministry to Sick, Elderly, and Homebound. It means a lot to those visited through this ministry to know that they are thought of and valued. Share your love and prayers with seniors who are homebound, or living in nursing homes or senior living communities. We will make cards and seasonal crafts to bring a smile to the faces of local residents. Christmas Stockings

Participants will enjoy putting together stockings full of treats to bring a smile to the face of children this Christmas. Consider bringing a small stocking stuffer(s) with you to add as a special treat. |
New Mom Wellness Kits

"The mission of Young Parents United is to invest in the future of young families by promoting positive generational change, self-sufficiency and effective parenting." Learn about their important work in our community, and how you can help! Wellness kits will be assembled to offer something special for new & expectant moms, as a reminder of how it is important to care for themselves in order to be better prepared to care for their baby. Handmade baby blankets will also be packaged with a message of love to be given as a gift to welcome new babies to the world. **Consider bringing diapers and/or baby wipes with you to this workshop to donate to Young Parents United. Help honor our Military, our Veterans, and First Responders by making star packets from retired American made flags. NOTE: If you or someone you know has a flag with embroidered stars that they would like to retire, please bring to the workshop. Rainy Day Kits
Learn how Bethesda House serves members of our community. "At Bethesda House, our goal is to end the cycle of poverty and homelessness - not just manage the symptoms. Our teams work to address each individual on a holistic level so they feel heard, respected, and safe in our care." Rainy Day Kits will be assembled to show concern for those who don't always have a place to go to get out of the elements.
