Good Neighbor Program
"I was naked and you clothed me" Matthew 25:36
The Good Neighbor Program helps provide clothing to school-age children in Schenectady County.
Many families struggle to make ends meet and cannot provide adequate clothing for their children. The Good Neighbor Program allows community members to help each other out by donating clean, gently used or new clothing to a child in need. Providing children with care packages of clothing not only takes the burden off of the family, but can also help make a child feel more comfortable and confident to face the school day when they know they will have a clean, weather appropriate, well fitted outfit to wear. How does the Good Neighbor Program hear about a child or family with several children who are in need?
Referrals are made to the Good Neighbor Program from Schenectady County Schools' teachers, nurses and social workers. We also receive referrals from Schenectady Department of Social Services, community organizations, area food pantries and parishes. Donations
The Good Neighbor Program gratefully accepts donations of gently-used and new clothing in all sizes. Adult sizes are needed, however we ask that adult sizes are in styles that children or teens would wear. We also have requests for women's plus sizes and men's big & tall sizes (2X, 3X, etc.) Please call our office 518-347-0871 or email [email protected] to make arrangements to drop off clothing donations. Monetary support is also most welcomed as we often have to buy an item or two when our inventory is low in a particular size and a child has an immediate need for that size. If you would like to make a gift today, go to our DONATE page and indicate in the comments that your donation is for the
