Jail Ministry

"I was in prison and you visited me"...Matthew 25:36

At present, those incarcerated at the Schenectady County Jail have their spiritual needs met on a weekly basis by the Jail Ministry Team, which is led by members of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Delanson.

The team provides:

• A Communion Service to both men and women, followed by group discussion centered on faith-sharing.  
• Mass is celebrated and opportunities for reconciliation are provided at select times during the year.
• Contact is maintained with those who have been released back into the community and those transferred to State Prison who have reached out to us.

The Works of Mercy Initiative seeks to explore ways to be supportive of the needs of the Jail Ministry Team, inmates and the families of those incarcerated.
